the 2016 show season has been a great one! drake claimed the usdf horse of the year award for fourth level, open, with a median score of 73%. he also won the american hanoverian horse of the year at fourth level. he is currently working on the prix st. george, and we are looking forward to riding that test at the november show at starr vaughn. in 2017, our hope is to show the developing prix st. george classes, and attend the national championships in august 2017.
my young hanoverian mare, flurt, is now under saddle and learning the very basics of dressage. she is beautiful, sweet, and very laid back!
at winterhaven, susan and i have a full barn of training horses and lesson clients! we are enjoying our time at our new facility, with excellent care and top facilities for the horses! it truly is a haven for people and horses alike.
Drake, my 2009 Hanoverian gelding finished 16th in the country for the 5 year olds! We received an invitation to compete in the Markel/USEF Young Horse Championships at Lamplight in Chicago! We declined the invite however, and have decided to travel to Los Angeles for the Region 7 Championships this September. Drake will be competing in the 5 year old Futurity and Cal Bred classes, and Fez, owned by Annette Pressas, will be competing in the Open Training Level Championships as well as the 4 year old Futurity and Cal Bred classes.
drake is showing very successfully in the open classes at fourth level. scoring 70+% at his first two shows of the season, he is poised to compete at prix st. georges later this summer, and at just 7 years old, he will do the developing horse prix st. georges next season!
flurt is now under saddle and doing great! she was started in our program with dave hillman, and now our young horse assistant, tami toland has taken the ride over on her. she is learning about going forward in the arena, and enjoying lots of riding out and about on the trail. looking forward to her first materiale class in the fall of 2016.
